Dusit's D2 spreads to Pattaya, Samui

The dusitD2 baraquda pattaya is slated to open in October 2008. It will have 72 rooms. The dusitD2 samui will be located on Choengmon Beach. It will have 60 individual pool villas and is scheduled to open in August 2009. 

 

New boutique resort on Koh Phangnan

10/5/2007 ''I see the opportunities to grow on the island. The number of tourist arrivals is increasing continually and the trend of tourist visitors has changed,''  Medway was quoted saying in Thailand Hospitality.

Not all the visitors to Koh Phangan these days are backpackers in search of full moon parties,  he said. The island's natural attractions and adventure potential are now drawing a more well-heeled crowd.

The resort opened in April and currently has a 60%-plus occupancy rate in the low season, a figure expected to reach 80-90% in the year-end high season, the report said.

Last year, some 332,624 tourists visited Koh Phangan, almost all of them foreigners.
On average each tourist stays on Koh Phangan for a week and spends at least 1,000 baht (US$32) per day, based on Tourism Authority of Thailand data. The island generated Bt 2.56 billion in tourism revenue last year.

 

Movenpick picks Pattaya

10/5/2007 The Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pattaya will comprise 300 rooms and is scheduled to open at the end of 2010. 

Each of the 300 modern rooms and suites at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pattaya offers unrestricted views of the sea. A second high-rise with 303 luxury condominiums is under construction next to the hotel.  

"Pattaya is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand and it is currently investing heavily in its infrastructure in order to firmly position itself as a leading tourist destination," said Jean Gabriel Pérès, President & CEO Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.

 

W in Bangkok   

10/15/2007 The newly constructed, 400-room hotel will debut in 2011 as part of a luxurious, mixed-use development close to the heart of the city's commercial and diplomatic centre.

W Bangkok will be an integral part of the Golden Land's Sathorn Square, a mixed-use project that also includes a 750,000 square foot premium office tower and a variety of retail shops. When open, the W Bangkok will also have direct access to the Bangkok Sky Train.

The other Thailand W property is the W Retreat & Residences-Koh Samui. W has recently announced plans to open hotels in Barcelona, Istanbul, Athens, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Koh Samui, Santiago, Dubai, Doha and Macau.

Botanica Spa at The Sukhothai in Bangkok 

11/6/2007 The hotel's General Manager, George Benney, said Spa Botanica was conceptualised when 7,000 square metres of lush gardens became available adjacent to the hotel.

"We were careful to incorporate many elements of these superb gardens into the entire experience Spa Botanica offers and not alter the environment the complex would be set in," Benney said.

11/7/2007 The hotel is Marriott's ninth property in Thailand and fourth in Bangkok. The hotel is located on bustling Rajdamri Road and a 30-minute drive away from the airport.

 

Hyatt opens on Koh Samui  

11/20/2007 Scheduled to open in 2009, Park Hyatt Koh Samui will comprise 90 hotel villas and a further 24 residential villas, all set on a hilltop location overlooking Thong Krut Bay on Koh Samui's southern shoreline.

Most of the hotel villas on the 20 hectare site are one-bedroom, 140 square metre units. There are also some larger villas with two and three bedrooms. The resort location is less than 15 minutes from Nathon, the local commercial hub, and 45 minutes from Samui Airport .
