The long-delayed rail link connected Bangkok city centre with Suvarnabhumi airport will open on 12 August this year, according to a Bangkok Post report.
The 28km track is 96% complete, the report quotes developers as saying, adding that the service from the airport to the central Makkasan terminal would cost THB150 (US$4.30) for a non-stop journey.

Thai AirAsia launched two new services on Tuesday, further expanding its international network from Bangkok. The Malaysian low-cost carrier’s Thai subsidiary commenced its daily Bangkok-Bali services, as well as flights from the Thai capital to Guangzhou, Bernama reported.

Accor has reaffirmed its commitment to the Thai tourism industry by announcing significant expansion plans today. Adding to the current Thailand network of 39 hotels, Accor will add seven properties in Thailand under the Novotel, Mercure, all seasons and ibis brands.
Two of the hotels will be located in Bangkok, with an additional two each in Koh Samui, Phuket, and one in Krabi.
‛Whilst the tourism sector in Thailand continues to be affected from the recent political unrest, Accor remains positive about the long term future of the industry“ said Oswald Pichler, Vice President Operations for Accor in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
The new properties are as follows: in Bangkok, the 200-room ibis Nana (scheduled to open in 2009), and the 283-room Novotel Bangkok Platinum. In Koh Samui, the 85-room and villa Mercure Samui Buri (pictured, 2009), and the 153-roon all seasons Samui Chaweng (2009). In Phuket, the 185-room Novotel Phuket Kamala Bay (2011) and 206-room ibis Kata Phuket, and finally the 206-room ibis Krabi.
Accor is already the largest hotel operator in Thailand, having added six hotels in 2008, including the first member of its new MGallery collection – Vie Hotel Bangkok.

The 138-room and suite resort is set on the secluded Changlang Beach south of Krabi. Each room features Thai-inspired décor, luxurious bathroom with terrazzo tub for two and a private balcony or terrace. The seven pool suites include 28m² plunge pools and ocean views.
